My Eco Story

Being “eco” and eating “organic” were part of my life before the terms were coined in mainstream media. I didn’t know any other way to live. My mom came from a family of farmers. Being one with nature and nurturing the earth in order to receive its beautiful bounty was in her blood.

I didn’t grow up on a farm like my mother did, but she created a lush garden of fruits and vegetables. If I wanted something sweet, I’d eat a stick of sugar cane or pick strawberries from the garden. Lemonade? No problem. The lemons from our garden made the best lemonade I’ve ever tasted. Orange juice? Mmm…our blood red oranges made the tastiest OJ. Thirsty? Coconut water was a staple in our kitchen.

So why did I choose to become an eco makeup artist? After learning that toxic and cancer-causing ingredients are prevalent in most makeup products, I was on a quest to find products that would help me beautify my clients without harming them.

Cancer personally affected my family. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She has managed to be in remission for decades by living organically and as naturally as possible. I knew I had to do what I can to provide safer products for my clients.

My heart’s desire is to lend my skills to better the lives of others. My gourmet candy company was born from bake sale fundraisers for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure by partnering with Bake For Hope. I currently work with the American Cancer Society and its Look Good Feel Better program to give beauty workshops to women undergoing cancer treatment.

Weaving my passion for artistry with helping people see the beauty that lives within them is my ultimate goal. All the while using the most natural ingredients possible.
